About Festival
Vaisdakam festival is dedicated to Subrahmanya or Muruga . Vaikasi is the second month of Tamil Calendar. In Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka Vaikasi Visakam festival observed in a grand manner in all Murugan temples .
According to myth Lord Karthikeya or Murugan was first appeared on the earth to kill the demons like Soorapadman. At Tiruchendur and Thiruparankundran, devotees carry milk pots and this day is considered as a day of enlightenment.
