This festival is dedicated to serpent gods. On this day, women bathe in rivers and observe a day’s fast.

Springs and baulis receive a spring-cleaning and this is followed on the next day by the worship of nagas (serpents).Rice and floral offerings are made these days. People believed that Sankrant or the beginning of a month (in the Bikrami era) is considered to be a sacred day by the Hindus. On this day Water springs and tanks are cleaned. The Nepalese also observe a festival called Tihar during Diwali and Bhai-duj.
