About Festival
Thirunakkara Arattu Festival is a 10 day festival and celebrated in the Kerala at the Thirunakkara Temple and close with the Arattu ceremony.This temple is located in the heart of Kottayam district of Kerala. Mahadeva is the presiding deity of the temple. Bathing ceremony of lord Mahadeva called ‘ARATTU’.Usually nine decorated elephants take part in the Arattu procession that is started in noon.In the evening Folk arts like Mayilattom (peacock dance), Velakali etc, are presented in the temple compound.

Highlights of the Festival
All-night Kathakali performances on the third and fourth days of the festival.The beautifully and colourfully dressed and masked Kathakali dancers perform all night long on third and fourth night.
