Magh or Bhogali Bihu is celebrated in mid-January on the last day of the month of poush and the first day of magh during which the harvest is gathered.

About Festival :
Magh or Bhogali Bihu is eaualent of Makar Sankranti or Pongal. On the bihu day or Uruka day young men build a temporary shelter in the open, collect firewood, often by stealing, which is permissible on this occasion, for a bonfire .Assamese people erect ‘Meji’, makeshift huts made of bamboo trees and leaves. They eat their feast and burn the huts next morning. Assamese.

People also performed the popular traditions of Magh Bihu are – ‘Tekeli Bhonga’ (a games of pot breaking) and bull fighting.
