About Festival
In the Bundelkhandi-speaking area only those women, who are blessed with sons, observe this festival. Kajari Navami Festival or Kajri Navmi Pooja is also known as Kajri Purnima and Savani.Kajari Purnima on the full moon day during the month of Shravana.
On the day of Kajli Navami , women go to fields and bring clay in leaves.This is kept in leaf-cups and in these leaf-cups is sown wheat or barley. These leaf cup placed in the pooja room. Where the cup is placed there is a design made with rice-solution.In this designe they make the figure of a house, a mongoose ,a child in cradle and a woman with a pitcher. It is this folk art which is known as Navami.After they perform the worship.Everyday the worship is repeated till the fifteenth day and Purnima day evening the cups are taken for immersion. All the women carrying the leaf-cups on her head and go singing to some tank where they are immersed.On the day of Kajari Navami Festival or Kajri Navmi Pooja women observed the fast.
