About Festival
Christmas Festival is celebrated as birth anniversary of Jesus Christ and it is celebrated by Christians all over India. According to Old English version of Christmas is a ‘Cristes Maesse’ which literally means the “Mass of Christ”.
25th December is celebrated as birth anniversary of Lord Jesus Christ, who is believed to be born on the same date at Bethlehem, the land of Jews.On the day of festival people decorate their houses and make a Christmas trees with gifts , with figures of baby Jesus, Mother Mary, Joseph. Christmas trees is decorated with hang stars and illuminate them.
Festival celebration is start on evening of 24th December with carol singing and the Santa Claus visiting houses.Christmas day is start in mid night by the pealing of the Church bells. On the next day or 25th December , people enjoy a sumptuous Christmas lunch.People exchanged the gifts to friend and served the Christmas cakes and wine to the visitors.
In some part of India, Christmas celebrations is different. People used the oil-burning lamps, mango leaves in Christmas decorations. and they decorated the banana and mango trees.
