About Festival
Baisakhi Festival is famous festival that is celebrated by the Sikh Community. It is also called as “vaisakhi“.On the day of festival people goes to the temple of their Sikh guru gobind Singh and pray for prosperity. Baisakhi is celebrated as a harvest festival by the large farming community in the states of Punjab and Haryana.It is a Thanksgiving Day by the farmers.
On this day holy book of the Sikhs, ‘Granth Sahib’ is taken in a procession, led by the ‘Panj Pyaras‘ (five senior Sikhs) who are symbolic of the original leaders In gurdwaras Kirtans and ‘Granth Sahib’ are also organized .
People clean their house and decorate with flower, rangoli and lights.On the day of festival a fair is also held and people performed the Bhangra dance.Every people wear the fine dress on this day. People shopping and eating spree in the numerous stalls in the fair
Major attraction of Baisakhi celebrations is the performance of energetic bhangra and gidda dance by men and women respectively.Folk dance is also performed by the groups on the fast beat of dhol.
